Our firm advised a manufacturer of lighters and the trade association to which it belongs in connection with the adoption of the European Commission Decision 2006/502 on lighters.
This Decision obliges all Member States of the European Union to take measures to ensure that only lighters with child-resistant characteristics are placed on the market and to ban the placing on the market of novelty lighters.
We actively participated in the drafting of Decision 2006/502 as part of the public consultations organized by the European Commission.
We have succeeded in exempting our client’s lighters from the scope of this decision.
