Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/1898 of 22 September 2025 authorising the placing on the market of products containing genetically modified maize DP51291, consisting of this maize or products derived from it, pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council [notified under number C(2025) 6319]
The European Commission has authorized the placing on the market of food, food ingredients, animal feed, and other products (excluding cultivation) containing genetically modified maize DP51291 (unique identifier DP-Ø51291-2), following a favorable assessment by EFSA. The EFSA concluded that DP51291 maize is as safe as conventional varieties, poses no risk to human or animal health or the environment, and does not raise any nutritional concerns.
DP51291 maize expresses the ipd072Aa (protection against root weevils), mo-pat (tolerance to glufosinate-based herbicides) and pmi (selection marker) genes. The products concerned must bear the words “not for cultivation” when they are not intended for human or animal consumption.
The authorisation holder, Corteva Agriscience LLC, represented in the EU by Corteva Agriscience Belgium B.V., must implement an environmental monitoring plan and submit annual reports. The authorisation is valid for ten years, the information is entered in the Community Register of GMOs, and the decision is notified to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
