This regulation was adopted pursuant to <strong data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"457\">Regulation (EC) No. 470\/2009<\/strong>, laying down <strong data-start=\"471\" data-end=\"603\">Community procedures for the establishment of MRLs for pharmacologically active substances used in veterinary medicinal products<\/strong>, in order to ensure <strong data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"639\">food safety<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"669\">protect public health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"1155\">The amendment mainly concerns the <strong data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"746\">extension of the use of fluralaner<\/strong>, already authorized for <strong data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"782\">poultry<\/strong>, to <strong data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"798\">finfish<\/strong>, in particular <strong data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"827\">salmonids<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"862\">European Medicines Agency<\/strong> evaluated the data provided by the applicant and recommended the <strong data-start=\"928\" data-end=\"968\">establishment of MRLs for fluralaner<\/strong> in <strong data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"996\">fish muscle and skin<\/strong>, extrapolating these limits to <strong data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1043\">all finfish<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1061\">MRLs set<\/strong> ensure that the <strong data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1138\">consumption of these foods of animal origin remains safe<\/strong> for consumers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1733\">The regulation also specifies the <strong data-start=\"1191\" data-end=\"1238\">therapeutic classification of the substance<\/strong> as an <strong data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1301\">antiparasitic agent\/medicine acting on ectoparasites<\/strong> and defines the <strong data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1337\">marker residues<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1342\" data-end=\"1364\">target commodities<\/strong> for the application of the MRLs. The measure was adopted in accordance with the <strong data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1515\">opinion of the Standing Committee on Veterinary Medicinal Products<\/strong> and is <strong data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1567\">directly applicable in all Member States<\/strong>.
