This regulation was adopted to meet the <strong data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"517\">growing demand for air traffic controllers in the EU<\/strong> and to enable <strong data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"556\">national authorities<\/strong> to recognize <strong data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"596\">foreign qualifications<\/strong> while ensuring a <strong data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"644\">level of safety equivalent<\/strong> to that provided for in existing regulations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"1277\">The main provisions stipulate that <strong data-start=\"729\" data-end=\"746\">Member States<\/strong> may <strong data-start=\"751\" data-end=\"825\">issue trainee controller licenses on the basis of foreign certificates<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"880\">accept third-country licenses and certificates<\/strong> for the purpose of <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"927\">training and assessment<\/strong>, provided that the holders meet the <strong data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1029\">criteria for training, examinations, and language proficiency<\/strong>. The regulation also provides for the possibility of <strong data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1155\">granting training credits for qualifications already acquired abroad<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1160\" data-end=\"1199\">organizing shorter training periods<\/strong> in order to <strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1274\">rapidly increase air navigation service provision capacity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1435\">The regulation was published in the <strong data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1357\">Official Journal of the European Union<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1379\">August 6, 2025<\/strong>, and is <strong data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1432\">directly applicable in all Member States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On May 23, 2025, the European Commission adopted Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025\/1044, supplementing Regulation (EU) 2018\/1139 with detailed rules and procedures concerning the acceptance of air traffic controller licenses and certificates issued by third countries.
