{"id":18431,"date":"2022-10-27T11:03:42","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T09:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.laffineur.com\/council-recommendation-on-strengthening-prevention-methods-for-early-detection-cancer-screening\/"},"modified":"2022-10-27T11:03:47","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T09:03:47","slug":"council-recommendation-on-strengthening-prevention-methods-for-early-detection-cancer-screening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.laffineur.com\/en\/council-recommendation-on-strengthening-prevention-methods-for-early-detection-cancer-screening\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Recommendation on strengthening prevention methods for early-detection cancer screening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 20 September 2022, the European Commission proposed a <a href=\"On%2024%20August%202022,%20the%20European%20Commission%20adopted%20Implementing%20Decision%20(EU)%202022\/1430,%20officially%20registering%20a%20European%20Citizens\u2019%20initiative%20called%20\u201cCall%20to%20achieve%20a%20tobacco-free%20environment%20and%20the%20first%20European%20tobacco-free%20generation%20by%202030\u201d.\" data-mce-href=\"On%2024%20August%202022,%20the%20European%20Commission%20adopted%20Implementing%20Decision%20(EU)%202022\/1430,%20officially%20registering%20a%20European%20Citizens\u2019%20initiative%20called%20\u201cCall%20to%20achieve%20a%20tobacco-free%20environment%20and%20the%20first%20European%20tobacco-free%20generation%20by%202030\u201d.\">Council Recommendation 2022\/0290(NLE) for cancer screening, data sharing, and access for citizens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;This new Recommendation is intended to replace Council Recommendation 2003\/878\/EC, which provides suggestions for Member States to individually implement cancer screening programs, management and monitoring of subsequent data, and incorporate new screening tests as research arises.<\/p>\n<p>Council Recommendation 2022\/0290(NLE) proposes the following to the Member States:<\/p>\n<p>1) shifting from a population-based approach, which concentrates on broader community wellness, to a person-centered approach, focused on specific individual health concerns and risk stratification.<\/p>\n<p>2) highlighting the importance of informed consent from individuals before they commit to participate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;3) recommending the evaluation and providing of data for cancer research, while still complying with data protection laws, in the European cancer information system.<\/p>\n<p>4) suggesting focusing on developing appropriate means for persons with disabilities or livelihoods in remote regions to access facilities for cancer screenings.<\/p>\n<p>5) requiring participating Member States to report on the implementation of cancer screening programs four years following the adoption of this recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>6) establishing the Commission\u2019s goal of helping Member States overcome any legal and technical barriers that harm interoperability amongst related local, national, and international registries.
