On 6 September 2022, the European Commission (EC) adopted a Delegated Regulation titled Document C(2022)6496 (not yet published in the Official Journal of the EU), with regard to requirements for the entry into the European Union (EU) of consignments of food-producing animals and certain goods intended for human consumption<\/a>. <\/p>\n

This new EC Regulation intends to supplement EC Regulation (EU) 2017\/625 on official controls and other official activities performed to ensure the application of food and feed law, rules on animal health and welfare, plant health and plant protection products with more thorough conditions required for imported consignments of food-producing animals or goods intended for human consumption into the EU. <\/p>\n

The specifications created by this new EC Regulation are as follows: <\/p>\n

1) it requires that consignments of certain animals and goods intended for human consumption can only be imported and sold in the EU if they are listed in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021\/405, which establishes third countries and regions authorized to import certain food product.<\/p>\n

2) it requires that imported products of animal origin from third countries have control plans for active substances, pesticides, and contaminants that meet the EU\u2019s requirements. <\/p>\n

3) it states that third country imported products of animal origin and of shell and snail origin must originate from and be prepared in establishments authorized by the respective countries\u2019 authorities and published by the Commission. <\/p>\n

4) it requires that vessels as establishments are approved by the authorities of third countries.<\/p>\n

5) it requires imported products\u2019 consignments to be accompanied by official certificates of approval.<\/p>\n
