The Internal Market of the European Union
The Laffineur law firm provides
legal advice to companies
on all issues, regarding the Internal Market, such as standardization, the free
movement of goods and the freedom to provide services.
We have significant experience in advising various companies
in the field of European Union Internal Market Law, which is based upon the
so-called "four freedoms": free movement of goods, free movement of persons,
freedom to provide services, and the free movement of capital.
Through our
legislative affairs practice, we monitor the
preparation, discussion, and adoption of Internal Market legislation by the EU
legislator. Consequently, we carefully follow the transposition and
implementation of new legislation in each EU Member State. Each time, our job
consists in advocating the interests of our clients to the EU and Member States
authorities, in order to ensure that the provisions included in the final
legislation have a positive impact on their businesses.
The EC Treaty requires the European Commission to take action
against those EU Member States which do not transpose the EU Directives in a
timely manner, or do not do so correctly. We endeavor to alert the European
Commission if any Member State does not transpose an EU Directive, whenever the
consequences stemming from this non-transposition adversely affect the interests
of our clients.
Free movement of goods and standardization in the Internal
Market
We advise and litigate in all areas related to the
interpretation of EU legislation (Directives, Regulations, Decisions and
standards) adopted in the field of Internal Market law. Internal Market
regulation is a broad theme that covers all fields of law, ranging from public
procurement to standards policy. We have a sound knowledge of all of the
procedures followed for the adoption of Internal Market rules, with a particular
expertise and focus in the field of Health and Consumer Law, the free movement
of goods (product safety and standardization) and the freedom to provide
services.
