Co-decision procedure, consultation procedure, comitology
and standardization procedures.
The EU decision-making process
Due to the strength of our
Legislative Affairs practice, we
have an intimate knowledge of all of the various procedures followed in the
adoption of EU binding and non-binding legislation, such as the co-decision,
consultation, comitology and standardization procedures.
EU Regulations and Directives are usually adopted through the
co-decision procedure or the consultation procedure. The comitology procedure is
used for more technical Regulations and Decisions. There are also specific
procedures for product standardization implemented by the EU standardization
bodies (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI).
